Local Public Issues For My County
The county that I currently live in is the Oklahoma County. One of the current issues in the Oklahoma County is the pond problem. Pond plants are generally beneficial, but the plants are getting out of control. One reason that plants are getting out of control may be that there is too many nutrients getting into the pond from sources such as livestock, and overfertilizing yards. Usually this would lead to excesive growth in algea. Another reason could be that there could be too many shallow areas in the pond. Areas with less than three or four feet of water are ideal for aquatic plant growth.
The Big debate with the pond water additives is whether or not ther are really needed. Pond purists will always deny the importrance of using pond water additives. The reason for this is that if you have the right balance of plants, algae, bacteria and fish you will have no need for pond water additives. This balance can be extremely difficult to maintain because the science of balance in your pond can be a bit of an art form. Those in favor of using pond water additives will note that use of the additives will make maintaining proper levels in the pond a bit easier.
In general, there is not much media coverage dedicated to this specific issue. But the Oklahoma County Cooperative Extension Service has dedicated a section of their website to the pond problem. Th URl is: http://www.oces.okstate.edu/oklahoma/agriculture/pond-problems
So far, there have been no decisions regarding this issue.

Local Public Issues For My City
One of the issues in Oklahoma City, is the parking in Oklahoma City's Bricktown. New construction of hotels, restaurants and commercial properties has slowly erased options for visitors. Parking near the restaurants that used to be free no longer is; convientient parking areas disappeared. This issue led to the displeasure of Oklahoma City residents as well as othr visitors who began finding it difficult to park near their wanted destination. In addition, many of the parking opperators began routinely charging twenty dollars for events at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.
Those that say that there is a problem with parking in Bricktown not only consists of residents and visitors. A group of Bricktown merchants recently told local media they support the case. They say that the majority of parking lots in Bricktown are owned by a small group of property owners, this creates a lack of a free market. The other side of the debate is that Bricktown parking is always available and affordable.
The Bricktwon Marketing Group created a website called fixbricktownparking.com. Also the Oklahoman did a segment on the current issue of parking in Bricktown. OKC Central also did a piece on the issue.
