How Have These Rights, Responsibilities, and Duties Changed Over Time?

Over time, everything changed. Including the rights and responsibilites of U.S. citizens. Previously, women, Jews, African Americans, and other minorities did not have the right to vote. Now, as a result of much protesting, everyone has the right to vote to decide on issues, and to elect an official. In the past, women and African Americans were undermined greatly.  After protesting and fighting, everyone now has the right to be treated equally. Currently, there is not full equality, but soon in the future there will be. Another right that has evolved over time is the freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Everyone has the right to speak out publicaly, however any speech that may cause violence or provoke anyone is banned. Everyone has the right to practive their religion without being harmed, so long as they stay peaceful.

Struggles and Chanllenges Minorities Faced in Order to Gain Equal Rights

Women:
In the past, women did not have the right to vote, and were not allowed in the work force. When the men left to serve the country in World War I, there was no option but to let women work to keep  the country stable. When the men came back, the women were kicked out of the work force. The women, on the other hand, were not leaving without a fight. They began to protest in order to gain the right to work and vote. The protests were not easy for the women. Many sufferage movements were put into action, and soon enough, women got their right to vote, the right to hold a political office, and the right to work. Until this day, women still do not have full equality, but are close.

African Americans:
African Americans had no rights. They were slaves that were abused and were not paid. They were treated as if they were not human. Why? Because of the mere color of their skin. Not soon enough, African Americans were tired of being treated inhumanely. They began to fight for their rights. First they faught for their freedom. Soon after achieving their rights to freedom, they saught out to get their rights to vote. After fighting and struggling, they finally gained the right to vote. Next on their list was Civil Rights.

Challenges vs Minorities

No society is ever perfect, there is always going to be discrimination and racism. Minorities face many problems due to either their ethnicity and their skin color. But none the less, they still struggle to keep their culture and their heritage alive. They face many problems such as bullying, and discrimination in the work field. I think that a way to prevent  more challenges from rising for the minority, is to stop the discrimination all together, and have equal rights for everyone.
